## What this site is

Beam & Bezel is an independent publication about flashlights and headlamps. It compiles the specifications manufacturers publish, does the arithmetic that connects them, and links every source with the date it was read.

It states plainly, on every buying page, that it has not tested any of the products it covers. It owns none of them, has no laboratory, and has handled nothing. What it publishes instead is verifiable: every conclusion can be re-derived by a reader with a calculator and the sources linked on the page.

## The honesty position

- Units claimed to have been tested: 0. Stated on every roundup, not buried.
- Every specification figure links to the document it came from, with a retrieval date.
- Where a manufacturer's own site could not be reached, the brand's own retail listing is cited and labeled as such.
- Where a figure is not published, the field says "not published" rather than borrowing a number from another review site.
- No Review or AggregateRating structured data anywhere. There are no reviews to aggregate.
- Prices render only from a live data layer that expires after 48 hours. When nothing current exists, the buy button reads "Check price on Amazon".

## Funding

Beam & Bezel participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and earns from qualifying purchases. It accepts no sponsored placements and no free products, and commission never influences a pick or the order picks appear in. Amazon is the only affiliate program joined at launch; no CJ or Awin links exist on the site.

## Two conversions used throughout the site

- Beam distance (m) = square root of (candela / 0.25). ANSI FL 1 defines beam distance as the point where illuminance falls to 0.25 lux, so the conversion is exact.
- Watt-hours = (milliamp-hours / 1000) x nominal cell voltage. Divide by the light's power draw for hours of runtime.
